Does your blog need a makeover this year? Or, if you’re just starting out, were you able to come up with the perfect About Me page for your blog? If your answer is no, don’t worry.
I recently did a blog makeover (it was such a headache, especially because I changed domains, but it was so worth it) and I struggled with creating my about me page. So I wrote this blog post in case you really have no idea where to begin.

What is an About Me page?
The About Me page is a separate web page on your blog that speaks about you and what your blog is about. This allows readers, old and new, to get to know you better. Moreover, the perfect About Me page attracts opportunities like sponsorships and brand deals if done well.
If you’re curious about what my About Me page looks like, check out this link. If you’re feeling stuck when it comes to your about me page…

Here is a list of 10 common things you should post on your About Me page
About Me page Tip #1: Tell a story
Before writing your About Me page, ask yourself about the things you want to share with your readers. For example,
- Your humble beginnings
- Why did you start a blog
- Your struggles and how you overcome them
- Hobbies and interests
Your About Me page doesn’t have to be too personal, to the point where you’re oversharing personal information that you may regret later. Write about what sets you apart from other bloggers in your niche. This is what will help you stand out.

About Me page tip #2 Simplicity is beauty
Don’t intimidate your readers with metaphors and highfalutin words. Your sentences should be conversational as if you’re talking to a friend you haven’t seen in a long time.
This is something that I personally struggle with, especially when I blog about a legal topic. I start writing lawyerly as if I’m talking to a colleague or a law student and it has the potential to bore my readers to death. Sometimes I have to have a second pair of eyes go over my blog posts to make sure that that isn’t the case.

About Me page tip #3 Write naturally
Writing naturally gives the impression of a simple discussion. The more you are yourself, the more your readers will feel close to you. My advice: write the first draft without overthinking or rereading yourself. You will have plenty of time to rework it later.
When I first started blogging, my natural writing involved some swearing. That is a no-no if you want your blog to make money. Brands and advertisers won’t want to work with you if your blog contains what they consider to be abusive language.
Don’t miss out on brand deals by not having legal pages on your blog!

About Me page tip #4 Keep your sentences short
Let me show you what this means. Take a look at my About Me page and scroll down to see how I described myself and my blogging business.
By the way, I’m Crystallace.
I’m a lawyer and a blogger that wants to help other bloggers and entrepreneurs by providing DIY Legal Solutions™.
You don’t need long sentences to prove a point. Gather your thoughts and look for words that will fully describe you and what your blog is about.
About Me page tip #5 Know your readers, their problems, and offer your solution
I concluded my About Me page with this statement:
I have spent the time doing all the boring legal research and translating the legalese so that you guys can turn your blogs into businesses by doing it yourself.
I also created my Legal Boutique where you can shop for simple and easy-to-use, legal templates, contracts, and agreements for your blog or other business.
So are you ready to turn your blog into a business?
Notice how I told my readers what I went through to get to this position? And, did you notice how I promoted my Shop page where you can get my legal templates without being pushy?
The perfect About Me page sets the tone of your blog. Moreover, it allows you to have a “proper introduction” to readers old and new.
About Me page tip #6 Testimonials
We always say that a picture is worth a thousand words. This is also sometimes the case with numbers! Telling a great story is one thing, but we are all the same on the Internet, a virtual space where anyone can become anyone and say anything. To boost your credibility, cite concrete numbers.
Or, if you have provided your services or products to your audience like myself, use testimonials. I actually put my testimonials where anyone can see them right away on my Homepage. I also post them on my Instagram.

About Me page tip #7 Show your face
By revealing your face and those of your team, you humanize your brand. Even if this statistic is not directly related to our subject, we find that revealing the presence of a face in a photo can have a great impact on your blog. Of course, you want to opt for a photo where you smile.
But then let’s say you want to blog anonymously, you can then create a custom logo that will represent your blog. Or, maybe objects or living things that can represent you? For example, if you blog about vintage clothes, use an image of your favorite vintage piece. For pet bloggers, you can share photos of your dog or cat.
You want your readers to connect with an image that represents your brand.

About Me page tip #8 Set expectations
Talk about the topics that you will cover in your blog. You can link your blog post categories in your About Me page and then write short paragraphs (2 to 3 sentences will do) describing what your readers can expect from you.

About Me page tip #9 Add a Call to Action (CTA)
An effective About Me page says a lot about you and your blog. This page is also a great opportunity for you to grow your email list by offering freebies. In my case, I offer a blog legal checklist that you can download for free.
Meanwhile, other bloggers offer ebooks, printables, email courses, mini-courses, and others. This will depend on your niche and what your readers need from you.

About Me page tip #10 Add your social media accounts
BTW, are you following me on socials? Let’s keep in touch! I’m on Pinterest, IG, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok
When people first hear about you, they want to know if you’re a real person, believe me. One way they check on this is by searching your name on Google and your socials.
In my case, I want my readers to follow me on socials. BTW, you can follow me on socials @heycrystallace. But this is one reason why I have my Instagram posts embedded on my About Me page, right above my footer widget.
Also, you can see social media icons floating on the left side of your screen. This way, it will be easy for readers to share my blog across other platforms.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, the perfect About Me page is not about having a fancy web design, or flashy photos. What makes the perfect About Me page is the person behind the blog.
Remember to Be unique. Be you.
