Kale That Tastes Better Than Collard Greens…


I want to start by dedicating this post to my friend Kelli. Every time I go to Kelli’s house I enjoy  good conversation and great food. One time at her house, I was fixing a plate and grabbed what I smelled like regular Collard Greens. The shape and texture were different but I thought nothing of it. I love greens and I figured she probably just mixed them like some people do. Mustards with Collards and Turnips. Anyway, they were so good and I was totally surprised when she told me it was Kale with Smoked Turkey.
I didn’t get a recipe from her but the next time I was ready to cook greens I went to Pinterest and stumbled upon a recipe from none other than Queen Patti Labelle.
This Kale recipe is quick, simple, easy, cheap and delicious. Collards will always have a place in my heart because I was raised on them but Kale is new fav. I want to spread Kale awareness so here is Patti’s recipe with a little tweak (I omitted the onions).  Let me know how you enjoy it! Just a FYI you will need a big pot for this recipe, about this size
Patti Labelle’s Kale with Smoked Turkey Leg:
6 bunches of Kale
2 Chicken bullion cubes
2 Cups of water
1/2 cup of Grapeseed oil
Black pepper (to taste)
Cooking time: 40 minutes
Wash and remove most stems from kale, but not all. 
Fill pot with 2 cups water and Grapeseed oil. Bring water to boil and add kale and diced turkey leg. Stir occasionally and add chicken bullion cubes and black pepper. Cook on low heat for 30 minutes. Kale should be tender but not soggy.
