How to Summer Self Care Like a Pro
Take a Self Care Staycation
One of the best ways to enjoy summer is to take a staycation. This can be as simple as taking a long weekend and enjoying all that your city or town has to offer. Or, you can go all out and plan a week-long trip to a nearby destination.
A staycation is a great opportunity to unplug from work and social media and to focus on taking care of yourself. Make sure to include plenty of time for relaxation, exploring new places, and trying new things. By the time you get home, you’ll be feeling refreshed and recharged and ready to take on the rest of summer with a positive attitude.

Get Outside Every Day
Summer is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the weather. Get out in nature as often as you can, and soak up the Vitamin D from the sun. Go for a hike, a bike ride, or a swim. Spend time in your backyard or at a local park.
Hiking is one of my favorite things to do. I can’t explain the amazing feeling I get from walking around outside. It’s so relaxing.
Even if you can’t get outside every day, opening your windows to let in the fresh air can make a big difference in how you feel.
Embrace Summer Skincare
Summertime is all about embracing a natural beauty routine. Let your skin breathe by taking a 1-2 days off from heavy makeup in favor of a more natural look. If you do wear makeup, make sure to cleanse your face thoroughly at the end of the day. This is my nighttime face cleansing routine. Check it out and feel free to steal it.
Also, don’t forget the sunscreen! A quality sunscreen is essential for protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Apply sunscreen every day, even if you’re just spending time indoors.
Aloe vera gel is also a summer must-have. Keep a bottle on hand to soothe sunburns, bug bites, and other skin irritations.
Eat Seasonal Produce
Eating seasonal produce is a great way to stay healthy during summer. Fresh fruits and vegetables are packed with nutrients that your body needs. Plus, they’re usually more affordable when they’re in season.
Some of the best produce to eat during summer include:
- Watermelon
- Tomatoes
- Peaches
- Corn
- Cucumbers
- Zucchini
- Basil
If you can, visit a local farmers’ market to get the freshest produce possible. You’ll also be supporting your community and the local economy. If you can walk there, you would be killing two birds.
Try Outdoor Yoga
Outdoor yoga is a great way to connect with nature and improve your physical and mental health. There are many benefits of yoga, including increased flexibility, strength, and calmness.
If you’re new to yoga, there are plenty of beginner-friendly classes available. While the weather is warm, take advantage of yoga in the great outdoors. You can find classes at local parks and beaches and most of the time they’re FREE!
Schedule Some “Me Time” Every Day
Summer is a busy time, but it’s important to make time for yourself. Schedule some “me time” every day, even if it’s just for a few minutes. During this time, you can do something that makes you happy and relaxed.
This could be reading your favorite book, taking a bath, practicing meditation, or listening to calming music. Whatever you choose to do, make sure it’s something that brings you joy.
Get a Deluxe Pedicure
Sandal season is the perfect time to treat yourself to a deluxe pedicure. This relaxing spa treatment will leave your feet feeling soft and refreshed. It’s ok to splurge on the upgrades every once in a while.

Choose a Signature Summer Scent
Summer is the perfect time to experiment with new fragrances. Trade in your heavy winter perfume for a lighter, refreshing scent. Citrus or floral scents are perfect for summer.
